WAVE Portal version 1.8.1 introduces several enhancements, including:
Expanded Detail: System Software Update The confirmation message that appears when manually initiating a software update on a system now provides clear visibility into which firmware images will be updated during the installation. This message details the components types, image types, current and target software versions, and how many components of each type require the particular update, making it easier to assess update scope for larger systems.
Feature Overhaul: Software Update Manager Accessed via the Software option in the left menu, the Software Update Manager has been overhauled and now provides considerably more information and functionality. Tailored for MNOs and distributor partners who manage manual software updates across their region, the new experience provides clear visibility into update availability by product type, SKU, and individual system, making it easier to assess update readiness, plan rollouts, and monitor overall software currency at scale. While automatic daily software updates remain the recommended best practice for system integrators to keep equipment current with minimal operational effort, this improved Software Update Manager offers bulk management features for users who choose to review status or initiate updates manually. Advanced filtering, intuitive drill‑down, and bulk‑action controls give administrators confidence and control when manual intervention is required, without disrupting established automated update workflows. Options include the ability to:
New Feature: Site Access Granting Found in the Options menu on a site page, the new Site Access feature supports pre‑installation workflows where multiple partner organizations need to collaborate on a site before any systems are deployed. This is especially useful for COMPASS XR site surveys and design‑phase activities, where one company may perform early site surveys and planning while another later completes installation and commissioning. The organization that creates a site is established as the site owner and can grant access to other companies as needed, similar to granting access to an installed system. The new Site Access page lists why each organization has visibility (such as site creation, granted access, or inherited access through installed systems), and allows the site owner to transfer ownership if project responsibility changes. Organizations that receive access to installed systems continue to automatically inherit visibility to the associated site. This feature enables smoother handoff from survey and design to installation and maintenance, reducing potential rework and ensuring all parties are working from the same site data throughout the project lifecycle.
SMS Updates: Authentication and Alarm Notification Delivery Options This release improves multi‑factor authentication and alarm notification methods to provide a more reliable experience globally. SMS text messages will now only be attempted for phone numbers able to reliably receive messages from our underlying SMS service provider, which itself remains unchanged. This improvement mitigates the need for users in some markets to secondarily request an OTP via email or potentially enroll in SMS alarm notifications when they may be ineffective or experience unreliable delivery for the particular user’s phone number. Please read the rest of this section for details on how this may change your interaction with the WAVE Portal. WAVE Portal now uses email as the default OTP delivery method for MFA verification. Users with a viable phone number associated with their account may optionally request a verification code be sent via SMS. The WAVE Portal login experience is otherwise unchanged, only the default method of OTP delivery has been updated from SMS to email. Note that the Customer Portal flow is unaffected—since customer user accounts do not include phone numbers, they have always completed MFA via email OTP. To ensure reliable delivery of alarm notifications, SMS text alerts are now limited to supported countries and regions. Users with ineligible phone numbers can no longer be subscribed to alarm notifications via SMS text message. While adding Alarm Actions to a Policy, users are now redirected to email enrollment for groups and users with an ineligible phone number. Existing policies containing invalid SMS enrollments have automatically been updated to email notifications; no action is required. As a result of these changes, phone numbers are no longer required for WAVE Portal user creation, reflecting their optional role as a backup communication method. This simplifies user administration while maintaining flexible notification and authentication options for those who choose to use SMS where available.
