Release Availability: June 26th, 2025
Region: AMER, EMEA & APAC
Software Version: v39
A new software update will be available to download for QUATRA 4000(i/c/e)/EVO(FN) on June 26th, with the following:
New Features
- Advanced decoding of network broadcast messages (SIB2) was introduced, improving the priority for band and radio access technology (RAT) selection to ensure coverage that automatically follows the base station setting.
- The channel selection algorithm was enhanced to prioritize WCDMA, LTE, and NR based on the priority set by the base station and signal quality, resulting in improved automatic RAT selection for optimal coverage.
- More flexible network priority handling, including support for fractional band priorities for NR.
- Reserved PLMN-IDs for cells are handled more effectively, preventing unintended connections in evolving networks that share RAN cells.
- Introduces a feature to always prioritize LTE in scenarios experiencing issues selecting between LTE and NR. This feature allows updating operator configurations to prioritize LTE for fallback in 5G NSA networks.
Improvements
- More accurate signal strength (RSRP & RSRQ) reporting on WAVE Portal at signal levels where the device stops providing coverage, for more informative site troubleshooting.
- Improved DNS resolution handling for modems and routers using legacy longer DNS format, increasing WAVE Portal connection success in sites using legacy IT equipment.
- Improvement ensuring band selections are preserved or reset appropriately based on operator configuration changes.
- Capped DL Tx power for Belarus to comply with the 16 dBm limit.
- Improved band and neighbor cell channel handling, including better error management for invalid SIB entries at band edges, to prevent device resets.
- New checks prevent oversized channel lists from corrupting memory, thereby improving reliability during normal use.
Bug Fixes
- Addressed unexpected signal decoding failures triggered by channel settings revision on WAVE Portal.
- Standardized small‑cell backoff to 8 dB for NR that had the bug of using WCDMA’s 12 dB
- System reliability: Addressed rare lock‑up scenarios and memory races so the system stays stable.
- Software update stability: Addressed excessive acknowledgement requests and lost WAVE Portal access.
- Addressed a bug in PDCCH/PDSCH resulting in persistent SIB2 decoding failures related to specific operator configurations.
- Various changes for better performance, stability, and reliability.
QUATRA 4000(c/e)/EVO(FN) CU Software updates supporting SMART SERVER ANTENNA & Module:
- Timing Accuracy: Reduced EPOCH timing jitter for improved synchronization and incident location triangulation
- Provides the ability to remotely update the software of SMART SERVER ANTENNA & Module from the coverage units of QUATRA 4000c/EVO(FN) in AMER.
If automatic software updates are enabled for the QUATRA 4000(i/c/e)/EVO(FN) and the system is online, they will automatically be updated by July 10th, 2025, or can be manually updated sooner using WAVE Portal or WAVE Field Tool after the release date.
If you would like to receive these features and improvements sooner, please get in touch with your Nextivity representative for support.
