No Power – My Network Unit won’t turn on
The power supply located on the back of the Network Unit powers up the whole QUATRA system. Make sure that the power supply in the Network Unit is plugged in properly, if you still have no power on the Network Unit (CU) try another outlet. If you continue to have problems with the Network Unit reach out to your point of sale for support.
I have a solid red LED
When your system has a red power indicator, one of the following things could be happening. You might have a power adapter failure, a hardware failure, system overheating, or the system may need a simple restart.
Start by resetting the Unit’s one by one, unplugging the power supply, wait 5 seconds, then plug it back in. Verify that the Unit’s software is up to date by using the WAVE Portal. If the problem persists, return Unit for service.
I have a flashing red LED
When your system has a flashing red power indicator, one of the following things could be happening. You might have a problem with the Mode setting, registration or donor signal, or the system may need a simple restart.
Verify the Unit’s specific error by the WAVE Portal.
I have a flashing green LED
Wait. System is in a setup state. If a red error indication occurs on the NU, CU LEDs may stay in the setup state until the NU error is cleared.
My RJ45 port LED’s flash off repeatedly
A Coverage Unit LAN cable may be shorted. Unplug all Coverage Units, power cycle the system, and plug Coverage Unit cables back in one at a time to check where fault occurs (fault could be in cabling, a QUATRA Range Extender, or a Coverage Unit).
If QUATRA Range Extenders are used, verify that LAN cable length on either side of the Extenders does not exceed 100 meters.
If none of the above works, try another power supply and/or another Network Unit.
My System will not connect to the WAVE Portal
Verify that a live LAN Ethernet cable is connected to the Network Unit LAN port (not the LAN OUT port which is used to daisy-chain to another Network Unit LAN port).
Check LAN firewall settings to the cloud (contact your IT Administrator for assistance). The Network Unit uses port 443 for management traffic.
No CU connected
Connect at least one Coverage Unit (CU) to the Network Unit (NU) for QUATRA to operate properly. If the CU is not connecting properly or cannot be seen on the Portal, check CU cables. The CU functionality may be verified by plugging it directly to the back of the NU or QRE Output with a LAN test cable. Check NU to QRE or QRE to CU cable lengths. Cable length must not exceed 100 meters, or 100 meters per cable if a QRE is used (or 150 meters per cable if 23 AWG Cat6 is used).
Use the WAVE portal to enable the Coverage Unit if it is disabled.
All LED’s are flashing on my QUATRA Range Extender
Unplug the input cable, wait 5 seconds, and plug it back in. If the condition persists the unit needs to be replaced.
QUATRA network connectivity
Cel-Fi QUATRA uses the Nextivity’s WAVE platform to perform management and reporting functions. To facilitate this, the Cel-Fi QUATRA Network Unit is connected to the internet through the install site LAN. Typical data payload is around 2kbps once per hour (system health data) or can increase temporarily during software updates or for remote troubleshooting. Commissioning requires this internet connection, even if temporary. Ping (ICMP) is not supported.
The WAVE system requires the following networking access:
- HTTPS on port 443
- DNS (standard port for DNS is 53)
- DHCP (standard port for DHCP is 67)
- NTP (standard port for NTP is 123)
Connections are always initiated from the device side. There is no need to configure any inbound ports on the firewall, thereby reducing exposure to external threats. To achieve both these attributes and still remain responsive to external commands, QUATRA uses Web sockets. Web sockets is a lightweight IETF protocol that is built on top of HTTP and establishes persistent TCP connections between a client and server. Since the connection is initiated on client side and uses regular HTTPS, typically no special inbound firewall configuration is needed, yet commands can be delivered to the device in real-time.
