A new software update will be available to download for CEL-FI GO G43 and GO G43 FN on April 16th, 2025, with the following:
New Features
- Advanced decoding of network broadcast messages (SIB2) introduced, improving band and radio access technology (RAT) selection priority for coverage that automatically follows the base station settings.
- The channel selection algorithm was improved to prioritize WCDMA, LTE, and NR based on priority set by the base station and signal quality, leading to enhanced automatic RAT selection for optimal coverage.
- More flexible network priority handling, including support for fractional band priorities for NR.
- Reserved PLMN-IDs for cells are handled more effectively, preventing unintended connections in evolving networks having RAN sharing cells.
- Introduces a feature to always prioritize LTE in scenarios experiencing issues selecting between LTE and NR. This feature allows updating carrier configurations to prioritize LTE if needed.
Improvements
- More accurate signal strength (RSRP & RSRQ) reporting on WAVE Portal at signal levels where the device stops providing coverage, for more informative site troubleshooting.
- Improved DNS resolution handling for modems and routers using legacy longer DNS format, increasing WAVE Portal connection success in sites using legacy IT equipment.
- Improvement where the system will no longer reset commissioned/user-selected band settings for software updates.
- Improved band and neighbor cell channel handling, including better error management for invalid SIB entries at band edges, to prevent device resets.
Bug Fixes
- Addressed unexpected signal decoding failures triggered by channel settings revision on WAVE Portal.
- Addressed a bug in PDCCH/PDSCH resulting in persistent SIB2 decoding failures related to specific carrier configurations.
- Improved memory checks to prevent oversized channel lists and software corruption issues.
- Various changes for better performance, stability and reliability.
If automatic software updates are enabled for the CEL-FI GO G43 and GO G43 FN, the system will update automatically by April 30th, 2025.
