What This Means:
Lights on the Coverage Unit not being lit could mean several things, including the unit not being plugged in correctly, a defective Coverage Unit, bad power supply or a bad wall outlet.
Do This:
Step 1: Check to see if the power supply is plugged into the Coverage Unit and wall outlet correctly.
Step 2: Check to see if there is power to the outlet.
Step 3: Exchange the power supply with the other unit to see if the power supply is defective.
If all of this fails it would appear that the Coverage Unit is faulty. Make arrangements to replace/exchange the Cel-Fi System.
What This Means:
Coverage Unit is establishing communication with the Window Unit.
Do This:
Wait for the display to stop cycling. This could take several minutes.
What This Means:
There is a minor problem with Cel-Fi that can be resolved by power cycling the Coverage Unit.
To Power Cycle the Coverage Unit Do This:
Step 1: Unplug the Coverage Unit.
Step 2: Wait at least 10 seconds.
Step 3: Plug the Coverage Unit back in.
What This Means:
The Coverage Unit is placed too close to the Window Unit and the system may not be able to function.
Do This:
Unplug the Coverage unit and move it to a location farther away from the Window Unit and then plug the Coverage Unit back in.
The numeric value on the display of the Coverage Unit is an indication of the area covered. A higher number means a larger area is covered. If you live in a smaller home and the Window Unit and Coverage Unit are placed relatively close to each other, then the number on the coverage indicator will have a low value but the system will still be boosting signal.
Do This:
To increase the coverage area move the Coverage Unit farther away from the Window Unit. The higher the coverage indicator value, the better the coverage.
What This Means:
The Coverage Unit is placed too far away from the Window Unit and may not function properly.
Do This:
Unplug the Coverage unit and move it to a location closer to the Window Unit and then plug the Coverage Unit back in.
What This Means:
There is no mobile network signal. Cel-Fi requires at least one bar of signal to function.
Do This:
Step 1: Move the Window Unit to a location where you have better cell phone coverage.
Step 2: Confirm this location's signal strength using the customers mobile phone.
What This Means:
The Coverage Unit temporarily stopped working and has switched to a low power mode because the environment is too warm.
Do This:
Step 1: Check to see if the vents are blocked or covered on the Coverage Unit.
Step 2: Move the Coverage Unit to a cooler location.
Step 3: Please wait and the Coverage Unit will start operating again when the environment cools.
What This Means:
The Window Unit temporarily stopped working and has switched to a low power mode because the environment is too warm.
Do This:
Step 1: Check to see if the vents on the Window Unit are blocked or covered.
Step 2: Move the Window Unit to a cooler location.
Step 3: Please wait and the Window Unit will start operating again when the environment cools.
Step 4: Reset the Coverage Unit by unplugging the power, waiting a few seconds and then plugging it back in.
What This Means:
The Cel-Fi system cannot find the network that it was programmed to operate on. The Cel-Fi system will only operate in the home network of the carrier who issued the device.
Do This:
Return the Cel-Fi system to the city or market area in which it was originally distributed for use.
What This Means:
The system has been disabled by the mobile network operator. Contact your operator for more details.
What This Means:
The signal from the wireless network is too strong to use a booster.
What This Means:
Changes to the Cel-Fi setup can be made to improve indoor 3G coverage.
Do This:
Step 1:
The more bars shown on the Window Unit the better. Try moving the Window Unit to an area that has better 3G coverage. If the customer location has more than 1 floor, upstairs is usually better than downstairs. Putting the unit near a window or higher on a shelf often helps as well.
Step 2:

TIP:
If you are using a wireless data device such as a USB dongle, position the coverage unit at least one meter away from the device. Placing it too close can degrade data rates or even make it impossible to connect.
